Components of Job Satisfaction

These factors of Job satisfaction are classified into three categories which are as follows:


Job-related factors: 

Job-related factors are directly related to the job. That1s, why these are great importance in the organization The job-related factors are given below:


1. Salary and wages: 

The amount an employee receives in exchange for rendering service to' the organization is known as salary. It has a positive relationship with job satisfaction. A high salary reSults in a high level of satisfaction towards the job. It encourages the employees to work more and more So an effective salary scale must be introduced and implemented for the employees to ensure their satisfaction towards the job,


2. Nature of work: 

When an employee gets satisfaction doing the work, it will motivate him/her to go a long way. It will be better if the nature of work is according to his efficiency and likings. A respectful job is considered beneficial to job satisfaction.


3. Work environment: 

Where there is facility' of plenty of light, fresh air, pure. drinking water, cleanliness, definite work rules, entertainment, communication, etc, the place is said to have a very good work environment. If the environment is. good; the employees will feel easy and comfortable working there. So, job satisfaction prevails there.


4. Relation with co-workers: 

All employees are members of one group or organization. Good relationship among workers encourages them to work in a satisfied mind. Thus relationship with co-workers is a very important factor for job satisfaction.


5. Job security: 

Hertzberg identified job security as one of the most important ' factors of job satisfaction. Usually, people are afraid of the security of jobs. If job security is ensured, people become self-confident and their job satisfaction naturally goes up.


6. Sound Supervision: 

Sound supervision must be ensured in the organization. An efficient supervisor always gives necessary directions, advice, to the employees. He ensures discipline and leads the organization in a controlled way. Employees get satisfaction while working unclear such supervision.


7. Stability in work: 

Stability in work ensures job satisfaction. Frequent transfers make the workers unstable and thus reduce their attentiveness and bond to the work. So, an organization must ensure job stability.


8. Opportunity for promotion: 

All employees have the expectation in mind to get promoted to a respectable post. They always want to see themselves at their peak. Promotion in a job ensures an increase in status along with the financial portion of a person. It is obvious that promotion increases job satisfaction.


9. Proper communication system: 

When a proper communication system prevails in the organization, the employees show satisfaction towards the job. If general employees can reach the executives of the organization easily, there builds a good mutual understanding between them, Under such circumstances, Workers will work with satisfactory feelings.


10. Autonomy: 

Executiveé of an organization usually wishes to work on their own __ accord. Autonomy allows them to. act such independently. Thus, the autonomy increases job satisfaction.


11. Responsibility: 

Employees want to increase their responsibility. Additional responsibility increases their status 1n the organization as well as in society. Responsibility helps employees to increase job satisfaction”


12. Employee welfare measures: 

All employees have the right to get a pension, gratuity, medical facilities, entertainment, and provident fund for the future, etc. Employees expect 'to get ‘security of their retired life. They want the organization to ensure all these facilities. Employees will show job satisfaction when the organization ensures these facilities to them.



Personal related factors: 

Every individual has some distinctive facture that differentiates them from one another. These features influence the job satisfaction of an individual. Some personal related factors are as follows:


1. Age: 

In an organization, persons having different ages are working together. Job satisfaction has' a positive relationship with age. In other words, with increasing age, job satisfaction also increases. From the research, it is seen that senior or aged workers have more job satisfaction than the younger ones.


2. Sex: 

Nowadays women are joining organizations at an increasing rate. It has been observed that women are less ambitious than men. For this, women are satisfied with their jobs. On the other hand, because of high ambition, men don’t get satisfaction in their jobs. Generally, women give importance to working conditions, environment, interpersonal relations rather than other components of work. So, it can be said that women have more job satisfaction than men.


3. Intelligence: 

Intelligence has a relationship. with job satisfaction. An intelligent employee easily understands his duties and responsibilities. They also get inspiration from the organization. For that, he can easily earn job satisfaction.


4. Personality: 

People having a striking personality can easily control their emotions and feelings. They have the adjusting capability in such a way that they can adjust themselves also with the changeable conditions. Thus they ensure job satisfaction.


5. Experience. 

The relationship between experience and job satisfaction is complexed. At the time of joining the organizations, job satisfaction is high but it is reducing day by day. But after passing 5/6 years job satisfaction gradually increases Because, with the passage of time, an employee learns to adjust himself with the job as well as the organization.


6. Educational qualification: 

The level of education helps employees to go form the workplace. Educated employees are capable of getting acquainted with all the activities of the organization. Uneducated employees can hot get along with these activities. So, an educated employee' 18 more satisfied with the job rather than an uneducated one.


7. Occupational level: 

Job satisfaction varies at the occupational level high-level employees or executives are more satisfied with their jobs than the lower-level employees. Because executives can easily meet up their demands and needs, but generally employees can not do so.


8. Health: 

Health is an important factor in of-job satisfaction. Healthy employees are most satisfied with jobs. Because they are physical 'and mentally fresh and strong For that reason they are comfortable with the work than the unhealthy people.


Factors outside the job: 

Factors outside the job also have an influence over Job satisfaction Man is a social being. His family or social life can not be fully separated froth his work life. Happy family life, social status, etc. are factors outside the job. A successful family or social life may result in a successful work-life.

It is very clear from the above discussion that, all these factors have a great influence over Job satisfaction If these factors work favorably job satisfaction may be dealt with successfully.
